Xiaoqiu Qiu is a poet, novelist and translator from Tongxiang, China who lives in Las Vegas.
Pronounced shiao-chiou (Mandarin), siau-tsieu (Wu Chinese).

Xiaoqiu 邱笑秋 is a Black Mountain Institute PhD Fellow at UNLV, his novel The Man with a Camera Eye is a semi-finalist for the 2021 Autumn House fiction prize. His poems have been published or are forthcoming in Ghost City Review, REED magazine, Sunspot, Meridian, and Beyond Words Literary Magazine. He is a winner of 2023 Meridian Editor’s Prize in Poetry, 2023 The Timberline Review theme contest, and a finalist of Sunspot’s 2022 Goldilocks Zone poetry prize. He is a Chan Buddhism scholar and his translated Tang dynasty monk poems have been published in Antonym, Lunch Ticket, and DEFUNCT. He is also an editor at Interim poetry magazine where he has just curated an issue of translated poetry. He also writes literary criticism, his essay “Contemporary Confessionalism and its Political Interactivity” is a 2020 Brooks-Hudgins Literary Essay Award nominee. He writes in English, Chinese, and Spanish.
